December 13, 2021 - Cramahe Hires New Treasurer

Mayor Mandy Martin announced that Rubab Nadeem was being added to staff as treasurer effective Decmber 13, 2021. Nadeem is a graduate of a three-year advanced diploma program of business administration in accounting from St. Lawrence College and also holds a Bachelor of business administration degree through Laurentian University. She is currently enrolled in the Certified Public Accountancy program.  Nadeem has worked for municipal government in the finance department for the past nine years, including serving as supervisor of property taxation and revenue with the City of Kingston. 

December 6, 2021 - Cramahe Announces Appointment of Chris Curwin as Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities

It was annouced that Chris Curwin was hired as Cramahe's Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities. Curwin has previously worked more than 10 years in recreation. He has a Parks & Recreation Management Certificate, and is a certified ice technician and Canada-certified playground inspector.

November 8, 2021 - Cramahe CAO Staff Changes

Incumbent Cramahe Township Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Treasurer) accepted the position of Director of Corporate Legislative Services with Prince Edward County effective November 22, 2021.  To ensure continuity of Cramahe Township business through this transition, Cramahe Township council has appointed Cramahe Fire Chief Mark MacDonald as Acting CAO effective November 19, 2021. Further, Bruce Greatrix will be returning as Interim Cramahe Fire Chief early in December.

August 6, 2021 - Cramahe Appoints Donald Butwell As Chief Building Official

Cramahe has announced that Donald Butwell will assume the position of Chief Building Official effective August 13th, 2021. He will oversee the issuing of building permits and inspections throughout the municipality.
Mr. Butwell has nearly 30 years of experience in the construction industry and has worked on every aspect of residential buildings and large-scale commercial facilities.
He holds a CBCO designation with the Director, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

November 17, 2020 - Cramahe Township Announces The Appointment of Mark MacDonald as Fire Chief

Mark MacDonald has worked in the fire service since 1987. Most recently Mark was the Fire Chief at Central Frontenac Township while continuing to serve with Belleville Fire. Upon his retirement from Belleville, Mark will start his job heading up the Township of Cramahe Fire Department. He will assume his position March 29, 2021

The Interim Fire Chief, Bruce Greatrix, will be staying on with the Cramahe department until Mark assumes his position.

October 20, 2020 - Cramahe Appoints Barbara Waldron As Chief Building Official

CAO Arryn McNichol announced that Barbara Waldron will assume the position of CBO starting November 9, 2020. Barbara is an architectural graduate of Loyalist College. She has several years of experience with Asphodel-Norwood followed by 14 years with the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan as Chief Building Official and Director of Building/Planning (2 years)

September 9, 2020 - Cramahe Appoints Dave Wellman As Deputy CBO

Chief Building Official (CBO), Gerald Sproule is retiring after 5 years with the Township of Cramahe, effective September 8th, 2020.

During his tenure with Cramahe Township, Gerald oversaw the issuance of building permits for many new residences and businesses throughout the Township. Gerald was also instrumental in transforming the upper floor and common areas at Town Hall into modern and efficient office spaces. He continues to be an active member of the local Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association.

The Township’s Planning and Development Department welcomes Dave Wellman as Deputy CBO for the Township of Cramahe. During his lengthy career in municipal government, Dave served as CBO in a number of municipalities throughout Peterborough County, ending his career on June 8, 2020 from the Township of Ramara, where he served for 10 years.

September 8, 2020 - Cramahe Appoints Bruce Greatrix as Interim Fire Chief

In the wake of the resignation of Fire Chief Tim Burgess, Cramahe Council has appointed Bruce Greatrix as Interim Fire Chief.

Bruce joined the fire service as a volunteer firefighter with the Township of Thurlow in 1975 and became its Fire Chief in 1995. Bruce then took a position as Deputy Fire Chief of the newly formed Belleville Fire Department, with the amalgamation of the Township of Thurlow and the City of Belleville. Bruce was also the Alternate Coordinator appointed by the Ontario Fire Marshal for Hastings and Prince Edward Counties and the Alternate CEMC for the City of Belleville. Bruce retired from the fire service on December 31, 2017.

July 6, 2020 - Cramahe Appoints David MacPherson as Manager of Public Works & Environmental Services

David is a Certified Engineering Technology graduate of Loyalist College, Belleville. He has over 22 years of private and public work experience, 16 in the municipal sector. For the past 11 years, he has served as a Public Works Manager, most recently for the City of Kawartha Lakes (Lindsay). He is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS).

January 17, 2020 - Joanne Hyde Named Cramahe Township Clerk

Ms. Hyde has over 15 years of senior government experience.  For the past four years, she has served as a Board Director after being appointed to the Rural Ontario Institute. She has also served as a provincial appointee to the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Joanne is an Accredited Ontario Municipal Clerk (AOMC), and holds the Certified Municipal Officer (CMO) designation from the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO).  Ms Hyde will assume the position on January 22, 2020.

December 9, 2019 - Matt Halmasy Named Deputy Fire Chief in Cramahe Township

According to Fire Chief Tim Burgess, Matt Halmasy has many years of service with the Alnwick-Haldimand Fire Department including 12 years as an officer.  Matt has demonstrated leadership and dedication in the fire service.

As Deputy Chief Matt will be responsible for all activities related to the development, implementation, coordination and administration of Fire Prevention and Inspection duties within the Township of Cramahe.

Matt Halmasy’s appointment is effective December 20, 2019.

October 15, 2019 - Cramahe Township Appoints Arryn Mcnichol To CAO-Treasurer Position

In a closed session at the October 15, 2019 Council Meeting, Council unanimously approved appointing Arryn McNichol to the position of CAO-Treasurer. McNichol was hired as Treasurer commencing July 13, 2018.  In May 2018 Mr. McNichol stepped in as Interim CAO, with the departure of Craig Brooks from the township.

July 9, 2019 - Tim Burgess Named Fire Chief In Cramahe Township

Mayor Mandy Martin announced today that Tim Burgess was appointed to the positon of Fire Chief for the Township.  Tim had been filling in as acting Fire Chief since the departure of Brandon Northup on January 4, 2019.  Tim's background information is available below.

June 5, 2019 - Cramahe Township Announces Interim CAO

Cramahe Township council has appointed Arryn McNichol interim Corporate Administrative Officer (CAO).  A review of job titles, responsibilities and reporting hierarchies will be completed over the next six months.

May 30, 2019 - Departure of Craig Brooks as CAO of Cramahe Township

A brief press release issued by Cramahe Township on Thursday, May 30, 2019, announced "the departure of Chief Administrative Officer Craig Brooks.”  The release goes on to quote Mayor Mandy Martin as saying “We are grateful for the dedicated service and hard work that Mr. Brooks has given to the Township (and) we wish all the best for his future endeavours.”

January 4, 2019 - Cramahe Fire Chief Brandon Northrup Resigns

Township Fire Chief Brandon Northrup has resigned effective immediately.  Northrup resigned on Friday, January 4, 2019 after meeting with Cramahe Township CAO Craig Brooks.
Northrup was sworn in as Fire Chief for Cramahe Township on March 14, 2011.  Brooks said Acting Fire Chief Tim Burgess will continue in his role until further notice.
Burgess was hired in 2015 and is currently employed with Ontario Power Generation as Technical Training Instructor at the Wesleyville Fire & Rescue Academy and is both a former member of the Grand Valley and District Fire Services and of the Ministry of Natural Resources Forest Fire Suppression Crew.

December 3, 2018 - Cramahe Celebrates First Female Mayor In 225 Years

There was a tremendous turnout at the Keeler Centre as Mandy Martin was sworn into office as the new Mayor of the Township of Cramahe.  Also sworn in were returning members of Council, Deputy Mayor Sandra Arthur, Councillor Don Clark, Councillor Tim Gilligan and Councillor Ed Van Egmond.

Former MPP Lou Rinaldi presided over the ceremonies, while Municipal Clerk Julie Oram officiated over the oath taking.

Alnwick/Haldimand Mayor John Logel congratulated the new Council and spoke of the long-standing friendship between the two townships and the continuing efforts to work together for all citizens.

The Northumberland Stars Hockey Team came forward to congratulate Mandy and several of the international hockey players offered congratulations in their home countries' languages. The teams presented Her Worship with an Official Team Jersey "Martin - 18".

Donna Rusaw presented Mayor Mandy with a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the campaign team and supporters. Rusaw's company (Black Dress Catering) provided the delicious munchies for the evening celebration.

27 members of the Colborne Library Ukulele Band performed a number of songs creating a wonderful community spirit and party atmosphere.  It was indeed a celebration to remember!

July 16, 2018 - Cramahe Announces New Treasurer

It was announced today that Arryn McNichol has accepted the position of Treasurer with the the Township of Cramahe.  Arryn was formerly the Treasurer with Alnwick/Haldimand and is a chartered accountant with CPA & CGA designations. His official start date is Monday, July 30, 2018.  The former Cramahe Treasurer (Nicole Leach) resigned to pursure business opportunities in the private sector. 

December 6, 2016 Cramahe Township Appoints Property Standards Officer

Cramahe Council passed By-law 2016-72.  This by-law appointed Gerald Sproule to the position of Property Standards Officer in addition to his role as Chief Building Official.

November 1, 2016 Cramahe Township Hires New Manager Of Operations

Mayor Marc Coombs today announced the hiring of Jeff Hoskin as Cramahe's new Manager of Operations. Mr. Hoskin is a Mechanical Engineering Technologist and has over 15 years of experience that includes facilities management, construction management and Health & Safety. Mr. Hoskin will assume his new position effective November 7, 2016.

July 25, 2016 Cramahe Township Hires New CAO

Mayor Marc Coombs today announced the hiring of Craig Brooks as Cramahe’s new CAO. He has extensive knowledge of our municipality and our staff which should enable a quick & successful transition.” Mr. Brooks has had previous experience working with the Town of Cobourg and for 8 years with Lakefront Utilities, most recently as their Manager of Water Services. He has extensive knowledge of the Colborne water system and as well, more recently, of the waste water system.  By-law 2016-44 (August 8, 2016)

June 20, 2016 Cramahe Township Hires New Planner

Mayor Marc Coombs today announced that a new Planning Coordinator has been selected and the successful candidate is Himanshu Katyal. Mr. Katyal comes to this role with a Master of Land Use Planning Degree from Queen’s University and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute. 

May 17, 2016 Cramahe Township Hires New CBO

Mayor Marc Coombs  announced today that a new Chief Building Official has been hired by the Township. The successful candidate, Gerald Sproule brings extensive municipal and construction experience, and has held Management and Senior Level positions in both the private and public sector. Mr. Sproule will assume his new position effective May 30, 2016. February 22, 2016 Cramahe Township Hires New Treasurer

Mayor Marc Coombs today announced that a new Treasurer has been selected and the successful candidate is Nicole Leach, CPA, CGA. Ms. Leach will assume her new position on February 22, 2016.  Ms. Leach has her CGA (now CPA) designation and has held Management and Senior Level positions in both the retail and manufacturing sectors.  By-law 2016-08 (February 17, 2016)

September 16, 2015 Cramahe Township Hires New Municipal Clerk

Mayor Marc Coombs, on behalf of the Township of Cramahe municipal Council, announced that Julie Oram has accepted the position of Township clerk. Oram comes to Cramahe with over 20 years of municipal experience in various management roles and has served as clerk for a number of municipalities.  By-law 2015-51 (September 15, 2015)

Communications with Council and Staff

The CCA was concerned about Township staff turnover and the loss of institutional knowledge.  A presentation to Council was made on March 22, 2016 expressing concern about staffing and suggesting the need to do an independent HR audit of the organization.
